Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 No Sound Issues – A Fix!
Upgrade to Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.19.
I had issues with sound after I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04
I found the issue to be the default install ALSA version.
Jaunty comes with version 1.0.18rc3 and theres seems to be issues with this version and Pulse Audio. Upgrading to 1.0.19. solved my problems of no sound in videos (avi, mpg…), Firefox/Youtube etc… (though sound worked SOMETIMES in my audio players – mp3, ogg etc…)
The way to upgrade to ALSA 1.0.19 is described on THIS PAGE , just cut and paste all the bits into terminal and it should solve your problems – make sure you check volume levels after the restart though.
